Project Engineer

The project engineer is also often the primary technical point of contact for the consumer. A project engineer's responsibilities include schedule preparation, pre-planning and resource forecasting for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contract Documentation: Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop engineering staff, including contributing to performance appraisals.
  • Safety, Ethics & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements and maintain clear team communication.
  • Engineering & Cost Studies: Participate in studies, material and method recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Contract Itemization: Prepare a detailed list of contract items required for project construction.
  • Scope & Procurement Documentation: Develop trade scope-of-work documents for bid packages and major procurements.
  • Procurement Scheduling: Prepare and manage procurement schedules to ensure timely buy-outs and schedule compliance.
  • Project Meetings: Schedule, conduct, and document job, owner–architect, and coordination meetings.
  • Change Order Management: Manage subcontract change orders, including estimate reviews, negotiations, approvals, and documentation.

Job Qualifications

  • Professional Attributes: Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong project coordination skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience handling large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Drawing Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings and construction documents.
  • Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of basic construction processes and procedures.
  • Planning & Coordination: Knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, and coordination.
